As we age, our skin loses the elasticity that kept wrinkles away in our youth. Thanks to massive advances in modern cosmetic surgery it’s no longer necessary to accept these signs of aging, and the ill-effects on self-confidence they can bring. A face lift that is specifically tailored to the demands and requirements of the individual, can turn back the clock, leaving your face looking as young as you feel.

How does it work?

The procedure usually takes place under general anesthesia, where excess fat is removed and relocated, muscles are tightened, and the skin is re-draped. There are several different facelifting techniques, which are selected by the surgeon based on the needs/requirements of the individual patient. These techniques can be combined with other treatments such as laser skin resurfacing or lipostructure, as required.

What should I expect?

The results of face lifts are usually very good, and have a great physical and psychological impact; patients report a greater sense of well-being and confidence, and are generally more comfortable with the way they look. Like all good cosmetic work, the aim is to leave you looking like an improved version of yourself, rather than an unrecognizable transformation.

How long will surgery and recovery take?

The procedure itself takes about 3-4 hours, and patients will often be discharged on the same day (after around 6-8 hours). However, in more extensive cases, an overnight stay might be required – this will be determined in your consultation prior to the surgery. Most patients find that the majority of swelling and bruising has gone within two weeks, leaving them to get on with living life to the full, feeling – and looking – fabulous.
