While some may view a generous bosom as extremely desirable, many women with large breasts wish they were smaller so as to avoid the discomfort they bring to their backs, necks and shoulders, the problems they may have fitting well in clothes or the negative attention they receive as a result. Whatever your reason for seeking a breast reduction, you can rest assured that our expert surgeons will do they very best job you could hope for, leaving you with breasts that are a size, shape and weight that works for you.

How does it work?

Under general anaesthetic, your surgeon will reposition your nipple, remove the excess fat, tissue and skin and reshape the breast. Though there will be some scarring, this can result in more proportionate breasts, better body image and greater self-confidence.

What should I expect?

Incisions are small and scars will be well-concealed beneath a swimsuit or bra. After the surgery, dressing or bandages will be applied to the breasts. An elastic bandage or support bra should be worn to minimize swelling and support the breasts while they heal. The final results will be revealed over a few months, as breast shape and position continue to settle.

How long will my surgery and recovery take?

Usually the patient will stay in the hospital for 2 days while they are kept comfortable and monitored for complications. Light work is okay after 3 days (2 days in the hospital and one rest day at home) although we usually recommend that our patients return to work after 5 days. Light exercise such as walking is recommended after 2-3 days, but heavy activity such as sport is not allowed for 6 weeks.
